Title: Taste of Science presents: The Brain
Time: Sunday, March 19th. Doors open at 7pm
Location: DROM 85 Avenue A in the East Village
Congrats! You have been officially accepted into the Taste of Science Medical School! This month we will focus on the brain, from the neurons that allow us to process our surroundings to the sensory consequences when wires get crossed. Get a neuroscience refresher with Ido Davidesco, who will provide an overview of the neurons and brain regions involved in the sensory system. Greg Shankland will share stories about the three unwanted voices that live inside his head, a phenomenon he started experiencing at the age of 55. Finally, Guillermo Horga will share how doctors and researchers understand the neuroscience behind auditory hallucinations through scientific experiments. Join us for our special Brain Awareness Week event, and earn your medical school credits with a beer in hand!
Taste of Science (formerly Pint of Science US) is a science initiative that brings scientists out of the lab and into the informal atmosphere of a bar. We aim to create an environment full of inquiry, healthy debate, and scientific enthusiasm, where learning and critical thinking go hand in hand with social drinking. So, come drink a beer (or two!), make a friend, and feed your science curiosity!
