The Brink of Illusion! What you see and hear is what you get?

Our perception of reality is possible through our brain’s interpretation of the physical world. Perhaps what you saw was a trick of the mind, or what you heard did not happen. These deceptions between our actual environment and what we perceive have thrilled scientists for decades. Join us for this event in celebration of Brain Awareness Week, and discover how visual and auditory information travels to our brain, and even how our own nervous systems might deceive us!

In this interactive lecture, we’ll trace the paths that sensory information travels to reach our brain, how the brain then translates that input, and how neuroscientists are solving these questions. We will explore some visual and auditory illusions, and talk about how our senses come to “trick” our minds. You’ll leave with a better understanding of how our brain interprets the physical world and what questions we are still trying to answer.

Your registration gets you access to the live Zoom class, along with a recording of the class to view afterwards.
