Neuroethics Student Championship by Simply Neuroscience
Passionate about debate? Interested in ethics and neuroscience? This fall, the International Brain Research Organization and Simply Neuroscience are teaming up to host the Neuroethics Student Championship -- a live debate competition with 32 top high school and college students. Prizes include scholarships sponsored by IBRO and a travel stipend to attend the 2023 IBRO World Congress in Granada, Spain.
Interested in competing? Fill out the application by Nov. 5, 11:59 PM. Selected students will be invited to the live contest on Nov. 19, 2022.

The Leon Levy Scholarships in Neuroscience
The Leon Levy Scholarships in Neuroscience aim to promote groundbreaking neuroscience research in the five boroughs of New York City by supporting the most innovative young researchers at a critical stage of their careers -- their postdoctoral research.
Each scholarship is a 3-year award. Scholars will receive an annual stipend equal to 125% of the National Institutes of Health postdoctoral rate, according to postdoctoral year, a $3,000 one-time computer allowance, and an annual dependent care supplement, among other benefits.

FENS: "Running a Brain Awareness Week event in 2023"
This FENS live webinar, taking place on November 8th from 3:00 to 3:30 pm CET, aims to provide participants with useful tips on how to write a successful FENS-Dana Brain Awareness Week 2023 Grants application and how to run an engaging outreach event. The webinar will include an interactive Q&A session with the speakers to provide hands-on tips to the audience.

Knowing Neurons: Help run an award-winning neuroscience website
Knowing Neurons is an award-winning neuroscience website and nonprofit science communication platform run by neuroscience trainees. They aim to both make neuroscience more accessible to the public, as well as provide neuroscience trainees a platform to practice their science communication and outreach skills.
The group is recruiting for several volunteer positions listed below. If interested, send an email to KnowingNeurons@gmail.com

  • Fundraising: 1-2 people to help with grant writing

  • Newsletter: one person to work full time on creating our new newsletter

  • Website: one person to lead website design - no technical skills required!

  • Social Media: one person to help with creating and reviewing posts to our various social media accounts

  • Illustration Team: 3-4 new people to help work on our infographics, article illustration, and our “neurocomic” project

  • Outreach Team: One person to help with our Translation Project (no Spanish necessary)


Submit a proposal for the 2023 Broader Impacts Summit
The Center for Advancing Research Impact in Science (ARIS) Broader Impacts (BI) Summit will be held March 22-24 in Baltimore, Maryland. The 2023 Summit Planning Committee will accept presentation proposals until Friday, Nov. 4th from the following tracks: BI Foundations, Science and BI Policy, Science Communication, Broadening Participation in Broader Impacts and BI in Science Museums and Informal Spaces. Consider submitting your idea for a discussion on Broader Impacts in science!

How to Effectively Communicate Your Science to Any Audience
This online course and community offered through the New York Academy of Sciences is custom-built for scientists to help you advance your career, get funding for your research, feel understood and effective with lifetime access to an online community of mentors and peers. Society for Science's 2022 STEM Research Grant
Middle and high school teachers engaging their students in authentic scientific research can apply for up to $5,000 to purchase equipment. Priority consideration is given to schools who support low-income students and students underrepresented in STEM fields.

Dana Foundation x Harvard's LabXchange Neuroscience Content for Learners and Educators
The Dana Foundation partnered with Harvard's LabXchange to create high-quality science education accessible for all. Create custom lesson plans with individual videos, fact sheets, articles, and more.

Unraveling the Mind: The Mystery of Consciousness
Part of the3-part lecture seriesat the New York Academy of Sciences, "The Enduring Enigma of the Mind," this lecture will feature philosopher Ned Block and philosopher Philip Goff dissecting the connections between mind, brain, and consciousness. In person on November 17th, 7-8:30pm with a reception to follow.

ENIGMA-U
ENIGMA-U is a free online school focused on neuroscience, neuropsychology, and basic science literacy. It is geared towards high school seniors and college freshmen who are interested in neuroscience and want additional preparation and mentoring. It is open to anyone with internet access.

The Social Brain App

During this one-hour webinar on Nov. 9th, 5:30 to 6:30pm EST, you’ll hear about opportunities available to individuals seeking a career in the start-up space, how one should plan and strategize to transition into this profession as an entrepreneur, as an R&D scientist and learn about the career growth opportunities, and the challenges to consider when pursuing a career in a start-up.
