60th Anniversary of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education
Please join us as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of behavioral and social sciences at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. One October 13-14, the advisory committee of the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education (DBASSE) will come together to highlight the division's current leading-edge work, laud significant past contributions, and share a vision of how DBASSE aims to serve the National Academies, society, and the nation in the future.

Society for Science's 2022 STEM Research Grant
Middle and high school teachers engaging their students in authentic scientific research can apply for up to $5,000 to purchase equipment. Priority consideration is given to schools who support low-income students and students underrepresented in STEM fields. The application will open in September.

Getting Curious About Data
Women in Data is offering data literacy classes geared to awaken and foster data curiosity. This link will take you to their course for 7th and 8th graders, but check out their course offering for 9th and 10th grade, too!

ENIGMA-U
ENIGMA-U is a free online school focused on neuroscience, neuropsychology, and basic science literacy. It is geared towards high school seniors and college freshmen who are interested in neuroscience and want additional preparation and mentoring. It is open to anyone with internet access.

National Academies Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education: Where Science and Society Meet
Sponsored by DBASSE and Issues in Science and Technology magazine, the 2022 Henry and Bryna David lecture will feature Dr. Shirley Malcom, Senior Advisor to the CEO and Director of the SEA Change initiative at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Dr. Malcom will bring her considerable expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM education; in public science literacy; and on the importance of behavioral and social sciences in evidence-based public policy to a talk entitled "DBASSE: Where Science and Society Meet." I AM ALS and Black in Neuro
I AM ALS and Black In Neuro are teaming up on Tuesday, Oct. 18th to address racism and disparities in healthcare and research within the Black community impacted by ALS. This event will bring together Black and African American people living with and impacted by ALS and Black and African American researchers and scientists to learn from each other and discuss the creation of people-centered clinical research, specifically for Black people living with neurodegenerative diseases.
